Cougar, Mountain Lion

You'll likely never see one of these magnificent animals in the wild, but cougars are among the wildlife at SMR. Cougars rarely cause problems for humans, and have never injured anyone at SMR. They are solitary animals and hunt at night. Their main prey is deer, so they occasionally follow the deer into the SMR area. Take a few minutes to read about safety in cougar country; be prepared in case you happen to encounter one.
